Guru Contest- Photoshop World

I submitted the following photo in the Guru Contest for Photoshop World. Walking through Big Basin National Park in Northern California, my family and I were blown away by the greatness of the Redwood trees. It was hard to capture the moment of emotion and wonder as we stared up at these huge creations. I feel that this photo sums up some of the feelings that were felt this day. In my editing, I took it into Camera Raw and increased the contrast and the saturation. I also added a small vignette and kept the lens flare that was found on the photo because I think it adds to the image in helping show what was truly seen with the sun reflecting down through the trees. I then brought it into Photoshop and sharpened the image as well as clone stamped some unwanted lens flare and branches in the photo.

"Celebrate" Contest Photos

At the Rexburg parade, I thought this was the perfect shot to represent the culture that was present here in Rexburg! It was so cute to see the kids involved with everything and I feel this photo shows how much color, life and fun was brought to the scene. In my editing, I used Camera Raw for my first edits in contrast, fill light, saturation, recovery, vignetting, and clarity. Then, I brought the image into Photoshop to sharpen the mask the boy was wearing even more to show detail. I also added a Gaussian Blur and masked out the shape of the boy to make him stand out even more.
I entered this photo into the Photographics Society Celebrate Theme contest because I love The Fourth of July and Summer and everything that goes along with it! I feel like the majority of the shots I take deal with bright colors, happy moments, and things that remind me of celebrating life!

This is my best friend's little girl Mercedes. She is always happy, excited, and just flat out ADORABLE! I thought she was the perfect way to show what a picture of celebration would look like! Right around Fourth of July, she is sporting the right colors and is happy as can be! For my editing, I took it in to Camera Raw and added, contrast, fill light, increased my blacks, played with levels, and added clarity and recovery. Then, in Photo Shop, I sharpened the image and added a little bit of saturation. I also went into Color Balance to take out some of the green that seemed to be prevalent.

Large Poster Print Finals

4. I airbrushed both of their skin and whitened the dad's teeth. I also increased the saturation, brightness, and contrast. I also cropped the image to give it a more appealing view. I also played with the color balance a little bit so that it was not as green.
5. I chose this photo because I loved how candid it was. This little girl is such a daddy's girl and I love the admiration that is in her dad's eyes for her. I would like to give this as a gift to them. When I took the photo, I was sure to put them in the shade because the lighting everywhere else was very harsh.
I have already turned this in but needed to get it re-printed, but Sister Esplin has seen it. However it will not be up for display in the Spori Building because of this.

4. I airbrushed both of our skins. I sharpened the overall image. I added a vignette and some temperature to the photo in Camera Raw. I also added some saturation and brightness to the image as well. I whitened our teeth a bit too.
5. I chose this photo because of the candid nature of it. I love the fact that I had just about tripped running over to Olin from setting the timer on my camera. I had it set up on a tripod and I loved the backdrop more than anything. I also chose this photo because I would like it in our home, it definitely shows who my husband and I are!

6. For this shot in my editing I followed the #36 tutorial in "Custom Images," and I edited the photo with a little bit of brightness and saturation. I really liked the way this shot fit into the template I created which is part of why I chose it. Some of my other favorites did not fit well.

I loved the way the colors pop with the saturation I added. Another reason I chose this photo for my template is the way that is fit well with it. The other shots I wanted to place in here did not look as proportional.

6. For this shot I just left the shutter speed open for 8 seconds and set my camera on a tripod to avoid shake. I used these little finger lights that my friends got me for Christmas and just moved around and made a spherical shape around myself while the shutter was open. In my editing, I sharpened the image a little bit and increased the saturation.

6. For this shot I placed my finger lights at the top of the carpet and then moved my camera down the line moving backwards and jerking the camera about in random motions side to side. I only left my shutter open for 5 seconds. I did not apply any editing to this photo.

6. For this shot, I set up a treasure box that I made for my sisters birthday and laid out the jewels around it. Then, I set up my tripod and used and LED flashlight to paint certain parts of the box. I wanted the front of the box and the jewels to be most prominent so I left the flashlight on those sections for longer.
