Individual Side Composition:

1. Mercedes Side Composition
2. 5/21/11- 12:49 PM
3. Sharp's Home
4. f/3.2
5. 1/200- Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
6. For this shot I used a large aperture to blur her background. I really liked the lighting of the window in this shot as well. I do not like the background in this shot and do not know how to change it for it to be less distracting. Any tips? In my editing I sharpened the image and added a little bit more blur to the background. I also pumped up the hue and saturation.

Individual Head and Shoulders:

1. Olin Head and Shoulder Shot
2. 5/22/11- 4:36 PM
3. Hess' Home
4. f/2.7
5. 1/1000 sec. - Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
6. I really liked the lighting in this shot and the way in brought out the colors. In my editing I airbrushed his skin just a little bit and also increased the saturation and contrast. I tried to open his eye a little bit with the liquify tool but it looked very un-natural. Overall I liked how this shot turned out.

Individual Full Body:

1. Olin Full Body
2. 5/22/11- 5:04 PM
3. Hess' Home
4. f/4.0
5. 1/500 sec. - Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
6. I really enjoyed how the light hit the side of Olin's face on this shot. I also really liked the background that is simple and clear. The saturation I added to this shot really added to the contrast between the green grass and the blue sky. I did not do much other editing to this picture.

Group Activity:

1. Mom and Daughter
2. 5/21/11- 1:19 PM
3. Sharp's Home
4. f/2.7
5. 1/800 sec.- Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
6. Mercedes is one of the cutest babies ever! She loves her mom and is constantly giggling. I liked this picture because it captured the moment of them playing together and it was adorable. In my editing, I increased the saturation and also the contrast. I also sharpened the overall image and played with the color balance.

Group Posed:
1. Olin and Jared Dorkin' it Up.
2. 5/22/11- 5:01 PM
3. Hess' Home
4. f/4.0
5. 1/1000 sec.- Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
6. For this shot it was obviously very posed. We were invited to have a BBQ at our awesome neighbor's house and it was a blast. I think the lighting on this shot is not too bad. In my editing I played with the color balance, contrast, and saturation. I also sharpened the overall image which helped it pop a little more.

Individual Environmental:

1. BBQ Master
2. 5/22/11- 4:45 PM
3. Hess' Home
4. f/2.7
5. 1/640 sec.- Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
6. Jared was at work with the ribs he was grillin' up for us! In my editing I sharpened the image overall and increased the saturation and hue. After I worked with this, I decided to make it black and white, and I liked this much better.

Editing Post- Camera Raw

Original:

Camera Raw:
1. Flooded Stone
2. 5/11/11- 4:54 PM
3. Beaver Dick Park
4. f/4.5
5. 1/200- Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
5. For this shot, I took several angles but I wanted to make sure I got the water in the shot. For my editing in Camera Raw, I increased the saturation and vibrance, I also played with the color levels to bring out more of the reds that were in the plants and the stone.

Original #2:

Camera Raw:

1. Hidden River
2. 5/11/11- 5:21 PM
3. Beaver Dick Park
4. f/2.7
5. 1/400 sec. -Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
6. For this shot I actually took it as we were leaving the park somewhat last minute, and I really ended up liking it! It's funny how instinct works. For my editing process in camera raw, I brought up the temperature and tint of the shot. I also brought out the oranges in the plants so that it was not as bland and the blues so that I didn't loose the color of the sky and the water. I also bumped up the saturation and clarity which made the overall detail look more crisp.

Panoramic Photography Post

Original Shots before Photmerge:

1. Panoramic Originals
2. 5/11/11- 5:05 PM
3. Beaver Dick Park
4. f/4.0
5. 1/800 sec.- Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
6. For all of these photos, I took them on a tripod. When I put them all together, I had to use the content aware fill to put in part of the sky and the water that was missing due to the bowed shaped of the photo. I also had to use the clone stamp to get rid of a cloud that was added in my the fill and other random plants that poked out in the water. I did not make any other edits at this point. It was difficult to clone stamp on the sky and the water because of the gradience. Overall, I am happy with how the final product turned out.

Adjustment Layers and Smart Filters

1. Horses
2. 5/4/11- 5:29 PM
3. Archer Highway
4. f/5.0
5. 1/250 sec.- Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
6. For this shot, I got lucky that they all looked up at the same time when I whistled at them. I once again clone stamped out an irrigation pipe that was running through the foreground. For my adjustment layer editing, I increased the saturation, and played with the color balance. I also sharpened the image in filters. I then created a Gaussian Blur over the entire photo and then created a layer mask, then used black paint to re-sharpen the horses and some of the foreground. I thought that this really made the horses stand out.

1. Poster Edge Flower
2. 5/5/11- 10:57 AM
3. Ricks Gardens
4. f/8
5. 1/125 sec. - Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
6. For this shot I wanted the flower to seem bigger than it was. I used a large # aperture so that everything would be more in focus in the background. For the smart filter, I converted the image to a smart object. I then added and Poster Edge filter. I played with the balance to get some of the outlines more crisp. In the free mask that was added, I used black paint to brush out some of the areas that had too much poster edge. This is kinda of a fun style!

Flora and Fauna/ Flexible Edits

1. Flower
2. 5/5/11- 11:29 AM
3. Rick's Gardens
4. f/8
5. 1/200 sec. - Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
6. I really liked the blue sky in the background as well as the tree, so I created a large # aperture when taking the shot. In my editing, I created adjustment masks to increase the magenta and yellow in the color balance. I also increased the hue and saturation.

1. Flower #2
2. 5/5/11- 11:28 AM
3. Ricks Gardens
4. f/8
5. 1/125 sec. - Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
6. My techniques and editing for this photo are the exact same as the above photo. I was just playing with various angles of this flower. I really liked having the white fence in this photo with the flower. I think all of the colors including the blue sky go really well together.

1. Running Horses
2. 5/4/11- 5:27 PM
3. Limon- Archer Highway
4. f/4.5
5. 1/250 sec.- Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
6. In this photo, I increased my shutter speed so that I could catch the horses running as well as freeze the dust that they were creating which I thought was a cool effect. In my editing, I cropped the image to highlight the focal point. I also clone stamped out a large irrigation pipe that was running across the grass. The only other thing I did, was increase the saturation and played with the color balance a little bit.

1. Water Drops
2. 5/5/11- 10:56 AM
3. Ricks Gardens
4. f/4.0
5. 1/800 sec.- Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
6. For this photo, the sprinklers had just turned off, and I loved the drops of water on the flowers. I wanted to focus on the drops of water so I created a small aperture so that the rest of the background would blur. In my editing, all I did was increase the saturation, and I brought out the yellows in color balance.

Blending and Typography

BLENDING:
Original:

1. Guitar
2. 5/1/11- 11:56 PM
3. My House
4. f/3.2- Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
5. 1/30 sec.
6. I love my guitar, I think the colors are really pretty. I think that this angle is also pretty cool. I increased the brightness and contrast on this photo for the basic editing and I was in auto mode when I shot it.

Texture Original:

1. Pebbled Road Texture Shot
2. 4/27/11- 3:09 PM
3. Poleline Road
4. f/4.0- Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
5. 1/400 sec.
6. This is a zoomed up picture of the road. I increased the contrast a little bit so that the individual pebbles would stand out a little bit more. I thought it created a nice overlaying texture. I chose this picture for my guitar texture because it kinda reminds me of the beach.

Texture Blended Guitar Photo:

I probably could have changed the opacity even more on this picture and erased out some of the texture that is off of the guitar, but I did not want to because I thought it gave it a pretty cool look as it was. I used tutorial number 27 in Custom Images and #1 on that page. I just used the stacking of transparent layers to create this effect.

Typogrpahy:
Original:

1. Summer Fruits
2. 5/1/11- 12:01 PM
3. My Kitchen
4. f/2.7
5. 1/30 sec.- Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
6. I went grocery shopping and I could not help but get excited about the colors of the fruit, and about summer! I used the lighting from my kitchen window and increased the brightness and saturation by just a little bit to show just how bright these fruits were! I used tutorial number 17 in "Custom Images" to have repeat and fade of fun summer words over this shot.

Repeat and Fade Type:

Color Study

Yellow

1. Yellow Sign
2. 4/27/11- 3:16 PM
3. University Ave.
4. f/8
5. 1/320 sec.- Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
6. The clouds were so crazy cool on this day! I loved the contrast between the yellow sign and the blue sky. This was my example of small aperture because everything is in focus in both the background and the foreground. I increased the brightness and saturation on this picture as well. I would like to learn how to make just a section of the picture brighter so I could make the sign brighter but keep the sky the same color and brightness that it is now.

1. Daffodils
2. 4/27/11- 3:28 PM
3. The Ridge Health Center
4. f/4.0
5. 1/250 sec- Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
6. I love how brightly yellow all the daffodils are around Rexburg. It gives me hope that spring might actually kinda be here! This is the example of my large aperture because the single flower is in focus while the background is more blurry. I increased the contrast and vibrance on this photo, the brightness was already bright enough naturally.

1. Yellow Tractor
2. 5/1/11-4:58 PM
3.Construction Site near the Temple
4.f/4.0
5. 1/640 sec.- Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
6. I really like the blue and yellow together in this shot. I also think this a cool angle of this tractor. I took several, and thought this was the coolest. I also like how there is the one lonely tree out in the background. I increased brightness, contrast, saturation, and vibrance in this photo. I was in auto mode when I shot this picture as well.

1. Yellow Curb
2. 5/1/11- 5:06 PM
3. Across from Hinckley Building
4. f/2.7
5. 1/1000 sec.- Canon PowerShot SX30 IS
6. I really like the way this shot turned out. I took a series of angles of this curb as well, and this was my favorite shot. I used a small number for my aperture setting for a shallow depth of field. I really like where the focus is, and how it blurred the background so well. I increased contrast, brightness, saturation and vibrance in my editing.
